Crossing Cultures with God

My exploration and experiences in crossing cultures for the ultimate purpose of mission

My Testimony

Thanks to attending Christian schools while growing up, I’ve always known about Jesus, but as my mother is a Buddhist, I grew up with some Buddhist influence too. Around about my tweens, I chose to officially call myself a Christian, rejecting the religion of Buddhism. Despite this, there wasn’t any real commitment or intimacy from my side in my relationship with God, though I would often pray to Him.

On Christmas Day of 2018, things started to change. My family and I were visiting New York City, and ended up in St Patrick’s Cathedral. I remember trying to feel a connection to God there, but instead felt a creeping sense of unworthiness, which frightened me. Perhaps that was God’s way of calling me to commit to Him. When I arrived back in England, I decided to pursue my faith more so that my relationship with God might grow. I started looking into being baptised in a Roman Catholic Church (which was what I was most familiar with), but was put off when I found out there was a longer process involved than I had expected.

I started attending a local evangelical protestant church which was recommended to me, and loved it. During this time, I started reading the Bible more frequently for myself too, and found that the more I read, the more it came alive, and the more I wanted to submit myself to the truth of God’s word. I think it was around this time that the beauty of the Gospel became a lot clearer to me, as I understood the amazing love and grace of Jesus much more. I fell out of love with the world and more in love with God.

I ended up leaving that church after a couple of years and started going to a new one, which I love even more, and on the 31st of July 2022, I was baptised there! I’m so blessed and grateful to call this church my home church.

I’m currently doing an internship with the Unreached Network, where I’m learning about crossing cultures, with the ultimate goal of one day going out overseas to help spread the Gospel to the nations.
